BRANFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A Branford police K9 was able to help officers track down an alleged burglar on Thursday afternoon.

Police said they were called to a home on Windmill Hill after a woman said she found an intruder inside her home.

The suspect, later identified as Michael Bianchi of Branford, fled the home, and ran toward Route 1.

Branford Police Officer Luigi Amasino, and K9 Joker, led detectives to a nearby motel, where rooms were checked for occupants.

They found Bianchi, who was then arrested and charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief.

He was held on a $5,000 bond and will be arraigned on Friday morning.
