Veterans receive makeover in Plainville

Posted: Updated:

Three lucky female veterans received makeovers on Monday morning to help them transition into citizen life.

Elnora Cochran of Rocky Hill and Mary Clark of Southington both served in the Army.

“This really came as a shock,” Cochran said. “I was really blown away, didn't know what to think at first."

Nearly two months ago, they were two of three, who submitted essays about the transition from military to their return to civilian life.

The three women won Save-A-Suit's first ever contest of this kind after there were 70 submissions. Monday was the "Glam Up" event.

Plainville's 466 Salon and Spa's expert stylists colored their hair and added flashy makeup. Then, Save-A-Suit then fitted them with a business outfit.

Owner Donna Theriault and her team opened the salon on a Monday, which is usually an off day, just for this chance to give back.

“They've done a lot for our country and this is just one way we can give back to them,” Jessica Ewud with Save-A-Suit said.

“[I] am extremely honored, the thanks and the gratitude never get old,” Clark said.
