A stolen Pomeranian that was snatched from a car parked in a Wallingford shopping plaza was found on Wednesday.

Police said the dog was stolen from a blue Audi Quattro convertible that was parked in the Staples Plaza at 1145 North Colony Rd.

The report came in just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday about Casper, who is a 12-year-old white Pomeranian.

On Wednesday, police said a woman identified as Diana Brandi of Bristol brought the dog to the Wallingford Police Department.

Wednesday, the dog's owner, who would only identify herself as Cindy from New York, spoke to Eyewitness News, saying "I want him home, I want him with me."

Cindy said she and her boyfriend, whom she was in the state visiting, were in a restaurant in the plaza from 8 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

Casper was left in the Audi with the window cracked while the couple quickly got a bite to eat.

Police said the thief got in through that window.

"It just keeps replaying in my head over and over again," Cindy said.

She said the passenger side door of the car was left completely open.

"And they just broke into the car, which I don't understand," Cindy said. "How do you just break into the car and take the dog?"

Cindy said she never leaves her dog in the car. She typically carries him around.

"Wherever I go, if I can bring him in I bring him in," she said. "If I can't, someone brings me food. If I can't, I have them wait with my dog."

Overall, she said she was concerned about Casper's health.

"He's sick, he's old," she said.

Brandi is a real-estate broker and noticed Casper sitting on the front lawn of a home she was showing on Hanover Street in Meriden at around 12:30 p.m.

She brought Casper to her home where a friend informed her that he looked like the dog missing from Wallingford. That's when she drove Casper to the police department.

Police said Casper was returned to his owner and appeared to be in good health.

Anyone with information about the dog is asked to contact the Wallingford Police Department at 203-294-2805.
