A serious three-car crash prompted a response from emergency crews in Andover.

The Life Star emergency helicopter was called to Route 6 near Burnap Brook Road Friday morning.

The road was closed in the area, but has since reopened.

Police said a vehicle traveling on the westbound side slammed into a second, which in turn hit a third. The latter two vehicles that had slowed for an oncoming school bus that had it's flashing lights activated.

Crystal McLaughlin, 28, of Andover, was behind the wheel of the car that initiated the crash.

State police said she failed to slow down.

McLaughlin had to be flown to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the third vehicle, 19-year-old David Wayne Lund of Lebanon, was not hurt.

There's no word on a cause.
