STRATFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A former math teacher at Stratford High School faces new charges after his arrest on Wednesday.

Police charged 47-year-old Gregg Gustafson with risk of injury to a minor, second-degree strangulation and fourth-degree sex assault. Gustafson was previously charged with tampering with a witness and bribing a witness on Feb. 25.

Police said Wednesday's arrest is connected to an investigation in February.

Superintendent Dr. Janet Robinson previously said Gustafson was involved in “inappropriate conduct" and was placed on administrative leave. Robinson previously said “inappropriate conduct” with students was not sexual in nature.

Gustafson, who was a teacher at Stratford High School for five years, resigned in March 2016, Robinson said.   Robinson also confirmed that arrest was connected to the prior investigation of inappropriate conduct.

Gustafson, who was released on bond, is expected to be arraigned at Bridgeport Superior Court on Oct. 5.
