The school administration for Region 7 in Winsted said it was made aware of a threat rumor circulating on social media.
As a result, there will be an increased police presence on Friday at Northwest Regional High School, which is on Battistoni Drive.
State police said the rumor was that the threat was made by a current student.
Troopers said they were quickly made aware of it by the administration.
They said Superintendent Dr. Judith Palmer worked closing with law enforcement and found that there was no credible threat made to the school.
State police said their presence on campus Friday morning is to offer parents and students a greater sense of security.
They did not anticipate a disruption to the school day.
