New Haven police are investigating after two men were shot Sunday afternoon.
Police were called to Derby Avenue, at Chapel Street, for the reports of a shooting.
The victim was identified as 28-year-old Taevon Alston, of West Haven. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Eyewitnesses said they saw a masked man, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, get out of a “shiny black car.” That man reportedly had a gun, the eyewitness said.
Police said a few minutes later, another victim, identified as 33-year-old Harold Herring, walked into the hospital with a gunshot wound.
Herring is in critical but stable condition.
Police said both shootings appear to be related and from the same scene.
