DEEP RIVER, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Deep River said they are investigating the vandalism of political signs belonging to Republican candidates.

Bob Siegrist is running for the Connecticut House of Representatives in the 36th District, which includes Chester, Deep River, Essex and Haddam.

Art Linares is running for State Senate.

Both said they have seen their signs vandalized.

Siegrist told Eyewitness News that he hopes the motive was not political.

"Running for office, you need to have thick skin, so I remain committed to continue to be positive [and] knock on thousands of more doors before the election," he said.

Siegrist said his father framed his sign, which cost about $150.
