Police identify woman killed in Old Saybrook crash

OLD SAYBROOK, CT (WFSB) -

Old Saybrook police have identified the victim killed in a car crash on Friday night.

Police said 22-year-old Heather Gleason, of Ivoryton, died in the crash, which remains under investigation.

The crash happened just after 10:30 p.m. on Friday, at the intersection of Middlesex Turnpike and Bokum Road.

Two first responding officers tried to save the woman from the crash. They were treated for injuries sustained during the attempts to rescue the woman.

The road was closed for nearly five hours after the crash while crews investigated.

Officers said they believe the car was headed northbound on Middlesex Turnpike when it lost control and hit a tree at the intersection.
