GROTON, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Groton arrested a teenager after investigating a shooting at a local restaurant earlier this week. 

According to police, the 17-year-old, whose name is being withheld, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and carrying a pistol without a permit. 

The arrest stems from a shooting Sunday afternoon. Police responded to the 99 Restaurant on Long Hill Road. Officers discovered a 17-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. 

The investigation revealed the act was not random and witnesses observed 2 suspects fleeing from the scene. 

Following the arrest, police said the teen was processed and transferred to the Hartford Juvenile Detention Center. 

The investigation is ongoing and police said they anticipate more arrests.
