A 14-year-old boy was charged with making a threat on social media against another student in Groton City on Wednesday.
Police said an unidentified student at the Marine Science School made a “threatening statement” on Instagram toward another student, who lives on Coast Guard property. Police added the threat “implied harm would come to others.”
After being contacted by the administration, Connecticut State Police, U.S. Coast Guard Police and the Groton City Police Department started an investigation and identified the student, who was from Lisbon.
Investigators said they “determined the juvenile suspect didn't have the means to carry out the reported threat.”
The student was issued a summons for second-degree threatening and second-degree harassment.
