Police use GPS device to track down bank robbery suspect

WOODBRIDGE, CT (WFSB) -

Woodbridge Police have tracked down a man that robbed a bank on Amity Road Friday morning with the help of a tracking device. 

At around 9 a.m. police responded to the TD Bank North for the report of a robbery. 

Employees said that black male wearing a mask and gloves displayed a handgun and demanded cash. 

They gave him an undisclosed amount of money, which contained a TD Bank North GPS tracking device. 

Police found a Red Volkswagen Golf on Andrew Lane in Orange around 9:05 a.m. 

The driver was Raymond Melvin, who fled the area on foot. 

Schools in the area were placed on lockdown by the Orange Police Department. 

At around 10:45 a.m., Melvin was found hiding in a garbage can at a home on Cummings Drive in Orange. Police arrested Melvin on the scene. 

Melvin will be in court on October 11.
