A tractor trailer truck struck a utility pole in front of a Hamden home on Monday morning.
Police said it happened in the area of High Top Circle and Pine Rock Avenue around 7:30 a.m.
They said the driver started the truck, which for some reason rolled down a hill for a short distance before striking the pole.
The truck didn't have a trailer, so it was only the cab portion that hit the pole.
No one was hurt.
Some wires came down and the pole snapped. It blocked High Top Circle, police said.
The United Illuminating company was on the scene and making repairs.
It reported more than 130 customers without power as of 9:30 a.m.
The road was expected to be impassable for about two hours, according to police.
