A vigil was held Friday night in remembrance of a Meriden mother who was killed in a hit and run crash.
Dania Cegeno-Delrosia, 40, was crossing Springdale Ave. with her 7 year-old daughter Denisse when a car sped towards the pair.
Cegeno-Delrosario pushed her daughter out of the way just before she was struck by the car. The impact of the hit pushed her underneath a parked SUV.
The mother was taken via Lifestar to Hartford Hospital with serious head and chest injuries where she later died. Denisse had only minor injuries.
The vigil was held on Springdale Ave. where the incident occurred.
Darangelis Batista was a friend of Cegena-Delrosario. She said she feels for the Denisse.
"Her mom saved her life and I feel like if she knows who did it at least she can have that closure and know that 'at least my mom saved my life,'" said Batista.
Family and friends gathered with balloons and small gifts to leave at the memorial site.
Fred Rivera and other friends urged anyone with knowledge of the crash to speak up.
"Somebody out there knows something. Don't be afraid to call us and contact us...we can give the family some closure," said Rivera.
Officials are still looking for the driver, who they believe drove off in a dark-colored Nissan.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Meriden police.
