MANCHESTER, CT (WFSB) -

A 12-year-old girl suffered non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle near a middle school in Manchester on Tuesday.

Police said the unidentified girl was stuck by a Chrysler mini-van on East Middle Turnpike while crossing the intersection of Brookfield Street just before 8 a.m.

The girl, who is a student at Illing Middle School, suffered a leg injury and was rushed to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford. The girl is in stable condition at CCMC, according to police.

Police determined that the girl "was not in the marked crosswalk" and "pedestrian controls were not activated at the time of the collision." Police added that the vehicle traveling eastbound had a green light.

The driver of the vehicle was cooperating with police and did not report any injuries to officers. The Chrysler mini-van sustained "minor damage," police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Manchester Police Department Traffic Unit. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Manchester Police Department at 860-645-5560.
