A temporary pipeline will be constructed to help deliver water to the four towns in Connecticut.
The State Department of Public Health "issued an amended public drinking water supply emergency order" for Greenwich, Stamford, Darien and New Canaan on Tuesday.
This new order does not replace the temporary 30-day public water supply emergency for those Connecticut towns.
The amended public drinking water supply emergency order "allows Aquarion to divert water from an additional source of supply."
Aquarion will be diverting the water to their greater Bridgeport system. They will be tapping into their southwest regional pipeline to create the new pipeline, which will be temporary.
It is an above ground water main and people may see it, but it will not affect traffic. It will pump 1.5 million gallons of water a day.
