WEST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A University of Connecticut student run over by a fire vehicle over the weekend will be memorialized during a service Wednesday night.

Jeffny Pally, 19, of West Hartford, was killed early Sunday morning.

Officials said she'd been sitting with her back against the bay doors of the UConn Fire Department. When the doors opened, she fell backwards and the exiting SUV ran over her. The firefighter behind the wheel was responding to a call at the time.

A UConn spokesperon said that fire call was for activated alarms at a building on campus. When fire personnel arrived, they found no fire and reset the alarms before returning to the station.

"UConn is reviewing what activated the alarms, which are triggered both by fire and by heat," UConn spokeswoman said in a statement on Wednesday.

The circumstances about what she was doing at UConn Fire Department in the first place were still under investigation. A toxicology test was also still pending.

Calling hours for Jeffny Pally will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Church of St. Timothy in West Hartford. Her funeral is set to take place at the same church on Thursday morning at 10 a.m.

On Tuesday night, hundreds of candles lit up the night sky in Storrs as students, friends and families said goodbye to Jeffny Pally.

"Jeffny was very lucky to be a part of this school and this community and she loved you all very much," said Jenny Pally, Jeffny Pally's sister.

The family told Eyewitness News that they are anxiously awaiting the results of state police's investigation.
