HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A man from Hartford is accused of trying to record people in a University of Connecticut School of Law bathroom.

Yiyan Wang turned himself in on Oct. 12, according to school officials.

He had been advised that there was an active arrest warrant out for him.

Yiyan tried to use a camera phone to record video of patrons using a unisex bathroom at the law school in Hartford, officials said.

The first reported incident took place on May 13, at about 4 p.m. A female was using the bathroom at the university when she observed someone in the adjacent stall attempting to take pictures or film her with a phone.

On June 21, another woman reported to the library staff that someone in the same bathroom had been in the middle stall for three hours.

Staff conducted a well-being check and spoke with an Asian male who claimed to be using the library internet. The same male had been spotted in the stall on numerous occasions.

Several other incidents happened in June, July and August.

There were also three video clips from 2103 and 12 clips of women using the restroom found on Wang's laptop as well.

Police charged him with 15 counts of voyeurism, one count of disorderly conduct and one count of attempt to commit voyeurism.

His bail was set at $250,000. He was also required to undergo a mental health evaluation. He is expected to appear in court on Nov. 4.

Yiyan was a student in UConn's MBA program a few years ago, but was not a student at the time of his arrest, according to school officials.
