A man known as the "Backpage Bandit" has been arrested for the second time by Milford police.
Police said 23-year-old Jonathan Arzu, of Bridgeport, robbed women at hotels and motels who were offering services through the website backpage.com.
They said in May, he forced his way into a hotel room with two accomplices, pistol whipped a woman with a handgun when she refused to turn over property and ransacked the room. He took money, a purse and a wallet.
Arzu as identified through DNA evidence left at the scene. He was also positively identified by the victim.
He was arrested on Tuesday.
Police charged him with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and reckless endangerment.
He appeared in court on Tuesday and was held on a $100,000 bond.
The incident marked the second time he was arrested for the same crime.
On Sept. 15, police said Arzu forcefully entered a hotel room on the Boston Post Road with two accomplices. This time, he tied a woman up with a phone cord.
He again ransacked the room and robbed the woman of money and a cell phone while holding a knife to her neck.
His DNA evidence was also left at the scene.
In that case, he was charged with first-degree robbery, unlawful restraint and sixth-degree larceny.
