WOODBURY, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Woodbury are searching for a man accused of breaking into a home on Good Hill Road Wednesday afternoon.

The home invasion was reported just before 1:30 p.m.

When police arrived, they found a 13-year-old girl who said a man entered the home through a back door, all while she was home.

The suspect exited the home after a brief exchange about who lived at the home with the teen.

Investigators checked the home to make sure the suspect was not there. A K9 was also called in to try to track the man, but they were unable to locate him.

The man was seen running west on Route 371.

"For a small town, a lot of people would probably consider that to be surprising, but given the threat and nature of today's environment, it can happen anywhere and anytime," said Matt Kishonis, of Woodbury. "I'm not really too shocked, it's very unfortunate that it happened, I'm glad to hear she's okay, but it just goes to show you that really people need to continue to be situationally aware, seems like she was because the gentlemen took off and hope they find the individual and justice is served."

He is described as having dark hair and facial hair, and is believed to be between the ages of 20 and 40 years old.

Anyone with information should contact police at 203-263-3400 or text TIP711 with any information to 274637.
