TORRINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

Torrington police have arrested a man accused of assaulting a Famous Footwear employee in September.

On Thursday, police arrested 25-year-old John Pjura, of North Carolina and charged him with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and sixth-degree larceny.

Pjura is accused of trying to leave the Famous Footwear store with a pair of sneakers, without paying for them.

When the assistant store manager confronted Pjura, police said Pjura hit him in the face and knocked him to the ground.

Pjura then ran from the area.

The employee suffered serious physical injuries during the assault.
