CT website lists candidates in local races

Posted: Updated:

Election Day is less than two weeks away, and while the presidential election has gotten some major attention, there are local and state races this year too.

There is a website available for people in Connecticut who are wondering who is running for elected office in their town.

The website is posted by the Connecticut Business and Industry Association, or CBIA. Users can find their state and federal candidates right in the palm of their hands or on their computers.

Just type in the town and it shows the candidates who are running to represent that district.

There is even contact information, where to learn more about them, and if they’ve held that position before. You can even see their voting record.

“That's a very good resource. Yes, it's a good starting point. You should find your own information,” said Jonathan Johansen, of Middletown.

Many think it’s important to make their voice heard on Nov. 8.

“It's important to vote,” said Lisa Young, of Middletown.

The website was launched in 2009, but was redesigned less than a year ago.

Traffic on that site is up 35 percent from previous elections.
