Meriden police continue to investigate what lead to a man being shot outside a West Main Street bar early Saturday morning.
Police said they were called to the Sunset Café around 1:30 a.m. on reports of gunshots. When crews arrived they found the victim, a 33-year-old man, who had been shot once in the chest.
The victim was rushed to an area hospital where he underwent surgery. His condition is unknown at this time.
Police said it appears the victim got into a confrontation inside the bar prior to the shooting. During the argument the victim and the suspect exited the bar, police said, that is when the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim one time.
Investigators stressed this is an isolated incident and they do not believe the shooting was random or connected to any gang activity.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Meriden Police Department at 203-630-6318.
