Hartford man unloading groceries dies after car hits him

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A man has died after police said he was hit by his own car in Hartford on Monday afternoon. 

The incident was reported in the area of Merrill Street around 1 p.m., where police found the man under the rear passenger side tire of an unoccupied car.

The man was taken to Hartford Hospital where he died.

Police said the man was unloading groceries from his car, which was running, when it rolled back onto him, pinning him under the rear tire.

The man's identity has not yet been released.
