HAMDEN, CT (WFSB) -

The driver of school bus was not injured after police said the vehicle crashed into an utility pole in Hamden on Monday afternoon.

The crash was reported near the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and Scott Street around 2:45 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found the school bus had "snapped" the pole and overhead wires had fallen on top of the vehicle.

During their investigation, police determined that the wires were a part of the traffic light system. Crews from United Illuminating were able to fix the utility pole after the crash.

There were no students on the school bus at the time of the crash and the driver did not report any injuries to police.

The Hamden Police Department Traffic Division is investigating the cause of the crash.
