Three local woman received some special recognition by the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame Wednesday night.
This year's inductees included former University of Connecticut women's basketball star Rebecca Lobo, CBS Sunday Morning host Jane Pauley and the late Joyce Yerwood who was the first black female physician in Fairfield County.
A ceremony took place at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.
The inductees are also well-known advocates for women's wellness.
"There is plenty of [and] lots of scientific research that shows giving support is as therapeutic as getting it," Pauley said.
"Anytime you are recognized by the people who live in your state, it's wonderful," Lobo said. "Recognition for being a woman is wonderful."
More information about the inductees can be found here.
There are 115 local women honored in the hall of fame.
