PD: 1 injured in Middletown crash Wednesday morning

MIDDLETOWN, CT (WFSB) -

A Plantsville man was seriously injured in a crash that happened on I-91 in Middletown Wednesday morning.

The crash closed the exit 20 ramp just before 6 a.m. It has since reopened.

The DOT said the crash involved one car, and LIFE STAR had been called to the scene.

"[It was a] one car accident with [a] lower extremities injury [and] loss of consciousness," said Chief William Balch, Westfield section, Middletown Fire Department. "[The driver was] flown by Lifestar to Hartford Hospital. He was traveling northbound on 91 and left the ramp and came in contact with trees."

On Wednesday afternoon, police identified the driver involved as 35-year-old Kristopher Grant, who suffered serious injuries.
