Norwich man arrested for stabbing on Election Day

NORWICH, CT (WFSB) -

A 51-year-old man was arrested for his role in a stabbing late Tuesday night in Norwich, police said. 

Officers were called to a motor vehicle crash the area of 45 Union St. around 10:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers learned that there was a fight between four men including two that had fled the scene. 

Officers located a stabbing victim, who was later identified as 40-year-old Kristopher Goodrow, of Niantic. Police rushed Goodrow, who had two stab wounds to the chest, to William W. Backus Hospital for treatment. 

Police said Goodrow was flown to Hartford Hospital "for a higher level of care due to his life threatening injuries."  

Cedric Edwards, who police is a "convicted felon with a lengthy arrest record," was arrested in connection with the stabbing. Edwards was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny and first-degree reckless endangerment. 

Edwards was being held on $250,000 bond. He is expected to be arraigned at Norwich Superior Court on Thursday morning./
