Police in Hartford said they responded to a shooting Thursday night after which they discovered that a victim had been shot in the chest and thigh.
They said someone reported to them that they heard three shots in the area of Harold Street around 10:45 p.m.
Officers found the victim, an unidentified 43-year-old man, in an apartment.
He was brought to Hartford Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Investigators said they found two spent .45 caliber casings, a damaged magazine. five live 9 mm rounds and a hat at the bottom of porch stairs.
Three witnesses were found in the apartment and brought in for questioning, police said.
The victim told officers that he heard a knock on the door. When he opened it, the suspect opened fire.
