Meriden PD: Two men arrested for assaulting Trump supporter

MERIDEN, CT (WFSB) -

Meriden police arrested two men who attacked a Donald Trump supporter Saturday.

Police said around 12 p.m. a man was waving an American flag and holding a Trump election sign standing on a traffic island on Hanover Street.

According to police, two men exited the vehicle and began punching and kicking the man, knocking him to the street.

Police said they intervened immediately.

Police said they intervened and arrested Wilson Eschevarria, 32, and Anthony Hobdy, 36, both of Meriden.

The victim stated that the assault began when the two men gave him the finger and the victim responded "same to you".

One of the men arrested was in possession of 54 bags of heroin.

The victim was not seriously injured.

Both men were charged with third degree assault. Hobdy was also charged with possession of narcotics.
