A new study shows the stores with the best deals on Black Friday.
Once Thanksgiving dinner ends, people all across the country prepare to shop. This year, holiday spending is expected to reach about $655 billion. That's $25 billion more than last year.
This year, the personal finance website Wallethub conducted an in-depth analysis to determine the stores with the best Black Friday discounts.
At the top of the list, Macy's with an average discount of 63 percent. They were followed by Stage, JCPenney, Harbor Freight and Gordmans.
The toys category has the biggest share of discounted items whereas the "books, movies, and music" category had the smallest. That fact could change some people's go to items.
"Electronics and clothes, I think electronics get the best deals around Christmas,” Cassidy Friedlich, of Enfield, said.
The study also mentioned retailers that didn't respond to Wallethub’s request for data. They include Home Depot, Apple, Michaels, and Pottery Barn.
But wherever you decide to shop, it's recommended to do your research, plan ahead and don't go over budget
"I make my lists and I go in and I get what I need to get and get out,” Friedlich said.
