A serious head-on crash shutdown Route 32, also known as West Main Street, in Willimantic Saturday.
The road was closed for several hours as officers investigated the crash.
According to police, the crash occurred around 2 a.m. between Capital and West avenues.
Officers said at least one female was unconscious upon their arrival, she was rushed to Windham Hospital and then flown by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital. The two male passengers in the other car were also taken to Windham Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Police said the vehicles hit head-on, but the cause of the crash is still under investigation. Officers are looking into if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
Anyone who may have been in the area of Route 32 around 2 a.m. or who may have witnessed the crash is being urged to call Willimantic Police with any details.
