A local mom was planning on having Thanksgiving dinner at her house with all her kids, but there were a few important things missing including a kitchen table.
However, some things were missing until the involvement from the Liberty Bank Surprise Squad.
Abel Serrano contacted the Liberty Bank Surprise Squad with the hopes that they could help out his dear friend, Yvonne Rodriguez of Bristol.
Rodriguez is the proud mother of four boys and this is the first time she'll be hosting Thanksgiving with all of her boys together.
“She wanted to have Thanksgiving with the kids,” Serrano said. “But, she didn't have a dining table passed over to her from her mom and her family.”
The Liberty Bank Surprise Squad made sure Rodriguez and her family had a table to eat their turkey on this Thanksgiving.
Rodriguez was in shock and was about to be even more surprised. The Liberty Bank Surprise Squad presented Rodriguez with a gift card for groceries and a new dining room table.
“We heard that you needed a dining room table so you and your family can eat around it this Thanksgiving,” WFSB Anchor Nicole Nalepa said.
The Liberty Bank Surprise Squad also provided Rodriguez with a few other items she needed: dishes, silverware, and glasses.
“So, this is for you and your family this holiday season from us,” Nalepa said while Rodriguez was crying. “This is what this season is all about!”
Thanksgiving time was a particularly hard time for Rodriguez after her brother's death eight years ago.
“So this was a very beautiful thing that changed my mood,” Rodriguez said. “I really needed this so bad. I didn't know how I was going to do Thanksgiving this year.”
