Police identify two killed in Southbury car fire

SOUTHBURY, CT (WFSB) -

Two men were killed when their car drifted off the highway, struck a tree, then caught fire, State Trooper Kelly Grant said.

State police have identified the victims as Massachusetts residents, 69-year-old Warren Rynkar and 26-year-old John Rynkar, both Malden, Massachusetts. Warren Rynkar was pronounced dead on scene, while John Rynkar was taken to Waterbury Hospital where medical personnel pronounced him dead.

The accident took place on the exit 14 off-ramp on Interstate 84 in Southbury on Friday.

The off-ramp was closed on the westbound side of I-84 near Exit 14 after a crash around 10 a.m., but the ramp was reopened for traffic at approximately 1:40 p.m.
