Counselors will be on hand at the CREC River Street School in Bloomfield this week to help students cope with the loss of a boy found dead in Texas.

Marcus McGhee, 9, was visiting family in Pearland, TX for Thanksgiving, when he went missing.

He was the nephew of former NBA player Marcus Camby.

Police and civilian searchers spent hours Thursday and Friday searching for Marcus who disappeared from a home on Fite Road on Thursday afternoon.

McGhee's body was found near a pond just before 7 a.m. on Saturday.

"This is the worst possible news that the family can get. There are families together, they are devastated right now, more than anything they need our prayers,” said Pearland Police Lt. Onesimo Lopez.

McGhee attended CREC’s River Street autism program in Bloomfield.

The school released a statement that said “The CREC community is saddened by the loss of Marcus McGhee, a student at CREC River Street School. He was a very special person to our staff, and he will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Counselors will be available to staff and students beginning this weekend and throughout next week."
