MERIDEN, CT (WFSB) -

The Grinch is trying to steal Christmas for a woman in Meriden.

Susan Lewis said when she left for work on Tuesday, all of her Christmas decorations outside her home were there, but when she got home, she noticed a lot of them were gone.

At her Pleasant Street home, she found toppled Santa Clauses, inflatable Christmas decorations ripped right from the lawn, candy canes knocked to the ground, and a stolen projector that once showed Santa and his sleigh on the side of a house

Lewis said she doesn’t understand why someone would steal from her display, which is one that has a lot of meaning to her.

She said a few years ago, her family had a house fire and lost nearly everything, and one of the few things she could save were her Christmas decorations.

It’s a display that has grown over the years, but after this, she’s now questioning whether it’s worth it.

"I feel like I want to take it down, and not be bothered with it, but I shouldn't let thieves steal my joy because I still want my friends, neighbors, mainly my children to enjoy the cheer of Christmas. I love everything about Christmas,” Lewis said.

She filed a police report and said officers were even out patrolling last night, flashing a light in her yard.

She said she just wants the displays returned.
