The son of a couple that was found dead appeared in Bridgeport Superior Court on Thursday for a pre-trial hearing.
Prosecutors said that Kyle Navin killed his parents when they disappeared from Easton in August of 2015.
Their bodies were found more than two months later at a vacant home in Weston.
Nothing was decided in court on Thursday. However, there were conversations about a potential deal with the state, according to Navin's attorney.
Navin has a month to decide whether or not he'll take a plea deal, court officials said.
The judge extended the date to Jan. 12, but no reason was given.
He was being detained on a $2.5 million bond.
State police charged Kyle Navin with two counts of murder and one count of murder with special circumstances.
According to police, Navin's motive was to collect his inheritance.
If convicted of murder, Navin could face life in prison.
His girlfriend, Jennifer Valiante of Westport, is charged in connection with the case. She is accused of plotting with Navin to kill his parents.
She is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and hindering the prosecution.
