EAST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

State police are investigating why a man was struck and killed while trying to cross an interstate on I-84 west in East Hartford.

The Bulkeley Bridge, on the Hartford/East Hartford line, was closed for a few hours on Thursday night after 49-year-old Bryan Nagel was struck by a car.

Police said Nagel was crossing I-84 west from the northbound shoulder to the southbound shoulder near Exit 51.

According to troopers, the car was driven by 61-year-old Kari Ostvik, of Burlington, who was traveling in the left lane on I-84 west.

The highway was reopened just before 11 p.m. Thursday.

This crash happened less than 12 hours after a woman was struck and killed by a tractor trailer on I-95 in Old Lyme.
