A woman was killed in a three vehicle crash in Preston Thursday night.

State police identified the victim as 45-year-old Jenette Grabowski of Lisbon.

Troopers said Grabowski was traveling east on Route 2A when she struck the driver's side of one vehicle that was headed west and hit a second head-on.

They said it happened just before 5:30 p.m.

The two people inside the first vehicle Grabowski hit were not hurt.

Three people were in the second vehicle, which Grabowski hit head-on, and suffered apparent minor injuries.

Grabowski was transported to Backus Hospital in Norwich, but she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.

State police called the area of Route 2A where the crash happened a single lane, bi-directional roadway that's divided by a double yellow line.

They said it also has white fog lines on either side.

However, they said conditions were dark with no streetlights.

The pavement was dry and  traffic was medium.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
