Police have arrested a man following an armed standoff in Vernon Saturday night.
According to officials, officers received reports that a man on Union Street was armed with a handgun and was threatening suicide.
When officers arrived, the man's family had already escaped the house safely.
Police said the man came out of the house holding a revolver and acted in a threatening manner towards officers.
After 30 minutes of negotiations, he surrendered without incident.
The man was taken into custody and was brought to Rockville General Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
Police said several firearms were retrieved from the home.
No one was injured and police have not yet identified the man.
