EASTON, CT (WFSB) -

The Easton Police Department said a man was arrested after officers confiscated nearly a pound and a half of suspected crystal meth.

Police said Cavan Devine, 24, faces a list of charges.

They said in addition to the suspected $50,000 in meth, they also recovered Xanax pills valued at more than $10,000.

They called the meth seizure one of the largest in the area.

People living in the same building on Silver Hill Road where Devine was renting a room originally called police.

Officers responded over the weekend and the occupants of the building pointed out some evidence. The evidence included packaging, scales, residue and other items.

Newtown police were able to help with the investigation. They analyzed the evidence and confirmed a positive reaction for the presence of suspected meth.

Devine was arrested on Monday through a warrant.

An additional warrant was executed at a Holiday Inn on Main Street in Bridgeport where Devine had recently rented a room. Police said a small quantity of the suspected drug and further evidence was seized.

Investigators said there was no evidence that suggested Devine made the meth. They said the evidence pointed to the purchase and resale of the drug through mail.

Devine was charged with operating a drug factory, possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, two counts of failure to keep narcotics in their original container, disorderly conduct and sale of narcotics.

His bond was set at $500,000.

He also was given a court date of Tuesday.

The investigation is ongoing, according to police.
