HADDAM, CT (WFSB) -

A school bus with no students on board was involved in a crash with a dozing driver.

Emergency officials called it a head-on crash for which three ambulances were requested. The crash was reported in the area of Old Country Road just after 7 a.m.

State police said the bus was traveling south on Route 81, which is also Killingworth Road, when it was hit head on by the driver of a SUV.

The bus driver, identified as Christopher Justiniano-Santiago, was transported to Middlesex Hospital with a possible broken foot.

The driver of the SUV, Brett Douglas Reid, and his passenger, Austin James Reid, were hospitalized as well, but for observation.

Police said Brett Douglas Reid told them that he dozed off before the crash.

He was issued an infraction for failure to drive right.

Crews from the Department of Transportation covered leaking oil and antifreeze with sand.

Traffic was down to one lane getting by in the area of Old Country Road, according to state police. It's since been cleared.

Fire officials said there have been three crashes on Killingworth Road over the past nine days.
