Police are searching for the man responsible for a bank robbery in Vernon on Thursday morning.

An unidentified man passed a note to the teller at the United Bank, which is located at 25 Park St., around 9:20 a.m., police said. Police said the note demanded money.

There was no word on injuries.

The Connecticut State Police with a K9 unit assisted the Vernon Police Department in the search for the suspect on Thursday morning.

Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect in hopes of identifying him. Police described the suspect as a man in his 60-70 years-old, who was wearing glasses, a kit hat  and a black puffy winter coat.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Vernon Police Department at 860-872-9126. Callers should dial zero for a dispatcher or nine to leave a tip in a voice mail box, police said.
