A Connecticut Toys for Tots warehouse has a big problem, as it is out of toys.
With Christmas less than two weeks away, they're now looking for help to make sure it's a "Merry Christmas" for area children.
The North Branford warehouse organizers said more local children need help this holiday season than ever before.
"I think more families are out of work and need toys and so they all sign up,” said Bob Nacca, warehouse coordinator.
In just three days, the Toys for Tots location has helped 1,000 families in New Haven and Middlesex counties, but 2,000 remain.
The warehouse was forced to close their doors on Sunday after simply running out of toys.
"It upsets the families but it’s hard to do, but you got to do it. You can't make them sit out there in the cold and wait for nothing,” Nacca said.
On Monday, donations continued to roll in, including a truckload of toys for all ages.
"It's a great feeling. Everyone in our office, we all participate in it. Everyone went around this weekend and we picked up toys and we all had a great time doing it,” said Paul Dispazio, general manager of The Bull Bag.
As organizers work to restock their supply as quickly as they can, they're hoping everyone's hard work and generosity allows no child in need to go without this holiday season.
"Every year I get one at least one little kid to look up at me and say thank you and that makes it worth it to me for the whole year,” Nacca said.
