A man who admitted to drinking alcohol and taking heroin was arrested for vandalizing vehicles at a dealership in Plainfield.

Police said they arrested 35-year-old Michael Higbie of Moodus just before 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

They said they were sent to BMB Motorworks on Norwich Road for a report of a person damaging vehicles in the lot.

When officers arrived, they said they saw a man run toward the rear of the lot.

He refused to listen to their orders, police said, so he was taken to the ground and then into custody.

They identified him as Higbie.

Police said they found two vehicles with broken windows to go along with a broken monitor at the neighboring Storage Etc. business.

Higbie told police that he wasn't sure how he got to the dealership. He said he had alcoholic beverages at a casino and was also under the influence of heroin.

He said his vehicle was nearby. However, police couldn't find it.

Around 5:05 a.m., police said they received a call about a vehicle down an embankment near the Napa building in Plainfield. Officers confirmed that it belonged to Higbie.

Higbie was charged with first-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

He was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court on Dec. 27.
