Warming centers open up for dangerously cold weather

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

With the implementation of the state’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol by Gov. Dannel Malloy, several communities were preparing by opening warming centers for those looking to get out of frigid temperatures. 

The Severe Cold Weather Protocol will begin on Thursday, Dec. 15, and remain in effect through Saturday morning.

Here’s a list of some towns that are providing warming centers:

Bloomfield:

During Severe Cold Weather Protocols, Inspirica, a Stamford-based provider of services to the homeless, will provide an overnight warming center from 8pm to 8am the next morning at 8 Woodland Place, Stamford.

Vernon:

Vernon Senior Center: Friday, Dec. 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

West Haven:

City Hall (lower level) will open as a warming center on Friday, Dec. 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
