A high school football player in New Haven was involved in a shooting that happened on Thursday.
Two teenagers were taken to the hospital on Wednesday after being shot.
These were two separate shootings, with one happening just before 4 p.m. and the other happening around 6:30 p.m.
Police said 18-year-old Derrick Smith was taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after being shot in the arm.
Sources told Eyewitness News that Smith is a student at Hillhouse High School, and was shot in September as well.
Smith was in the area of Winchester Avenue and Hazel Street when he was shot.
Police said Smith has an active warrant for carrying a pistol without a permit and is in police custody at the hospital.
It is unclear if any suspects have been identified.
Just a few hours later on Wednesday, another 18-year-old was taken to the hospital, suffering from several gunshot wounds.
The unidentified teen was shot while in the area of Shepard and Newhall streets. He is in critical condition.
