NEW YORK, NY (WFSB) -

All she wanted was to meet Mariah Carey, and on Saturday night, a her dream came true.

Last week, Eyewitness News spoke with Larissa Podermanski, 30, of Berlin, who has an aggressive form of breast cancer.

She said along with planning a wedding and thinking about starting a family, Podermanski then learned she had stage 2 breast cancer.

Eight months later, her condition worsened into stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, a form they called quite aggressive.

As she continues to fight an uphill battle, her friends and her nurses were inspired by Mariah Carey.

They all put together a video of them singing Carey’s popular holiday song “All I Want for Christmas is You,” hoping to get the singer’s attention.

She said Carey's music has helped her get through some tough times.

After the story aired on Channel 3, and was posted to social media, Carey’s team reached out, looking to invite Podermanski to Carey’s Saturday night show.

On Sunday, Podermanski told Eyewitness News that Carey’s team had organized a car for Podermanski and her husband Martin, along with a room at the Beacon Theater, dinner, and seats to Carey’s show.

“We waited awhile after the show to meet her but had the opportunity to meet many of her backup singers, especially MaryAnn who was the main person who brought my story to Mariah Carey’s attention. Mariah was touched to hear how her music has helped give me strength,” Podermanski said.

After the show, she and her husband got to meet the singer.

"We got to talk for about 15 minutes and I told her how her music has inspired me, keeps me motivated and how it has the power to pick me up on the bad days, that any cancer survivor could tell you we have bad days all the time," Podermanski said.

To add to the excitement, the day had extra special meaning for the couple, because Martin proposed to Larissa exactly one year ago Saturday, at a Mariah Carey concert.

"It's still all sinking in and I still can't believe that we were there and we met her in New York. Tomorrow will be a week since we made the video so I never anticipated all the support from everyone, all the sharing, all the likes," she said, adding that this whole experience has helped keep her spirits up, and she's overwhelmed by the support of the entire community.

Podermanski set up a GoFundMe account to aid in her cancer struggle. It can be found here.
