For anyone waiting for that last possible moment to send holiday cards or gifts, time is running out.
It’s the busiest time of the year for post offices, and it was no exception on Monday in Glastonbury and Wethersfield, where post offices were packed.
“I'm pretty prepared but this is all of the last-minute stuff,” said Joyce Pepe, of Glastonbury.
“It was very important because I never wait until the last minute, but this time I did,” said Kim Hushak, of Wethersfield.
Monday was expected to be the busiest day of the year at post offices nationwide.
The United States Postal Service believes 12 million customers will have visited its offices by day’s end, and 7 million will use its website.
“Just as quickly as we get them out, they're coming in, but we're ready,” said Tricia Lucas, manager of customer service operations at the Hartford Post Office, who said letters and small packages should be mailed by Dec. 20 if you want it delivered by Christmas.
Whether you use the postal service, UPS or FedEx, the deadline for overnight packages is Dec. 23.
