SIMSBURY, CT (WFSB) -

A family in Simsbury woke up to find out their extensive holiday light display had been vandalized overnight.

It was all caught on surveillance video, and now the family is hoping it will help catch the people responsible.

"It was very sad to see something like this,” said Liz Colopy, who said she woke up to a text from one of her neighbors Saturday morning, saying decorations had been vandalized.

The display, which they've been putting up for the past 10 years, had been vandalized and Colopy estimates there was about $2,000 worth of damage.

"So we were busy all day Saturday, assessing the damage and getting it back into repair to be able to light it that night,” Colopy said.

Just this year, the Colopy family put up surveillance cameras outside to keep a closer watch over the display.

In the video, you can see three people walk down Sunset Hill Road, try to knock down a street sign, and make their way to Colopy’s property.

They kicked, ripped apart, and knocked over multiple displays and decorations.

"We're going to get these people, they have to be caught,” Colopy said.

The Colopy family called police around 9:30 that morning, who are now investigating the incident.

No arrests have been made, but police are hoping someone will recognize the people, in hopes of tracking down those responsible.

The family is offering a reward, and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
